Half Cape House Addition
The traditional Half Cape House will have a door and two windows on it’s front. If it is an original Half Cape both windows will be on the same side to the right or left of the door and the chimney will line up with the center of the door on the front. This was done so that if the house was to be added onto in the future and made into a three-quarter Cape or a full Cape Cod house the chimney would end up in the center of the house, making it easier to heat in colonial times.
The following images are all of old original Cape Cod style half-houses located here on Cape Cod. This original Cape half house has a screened porch addition off the side opposite the door. This one is also very old judging by the transom window above the door and the way the door is trimmed.
The one below has a small room addition off the side and a shed dormer across the front roof.
This half-Cape also has an addition off it's side with a shed roof over a very small "closet" off the main structure.
